The aim of the Restaurant Lamin project was to create a visually appealing and modern website that reflects the restaurant's unique atmosphere and quality. The site was implemented on the Webflow platform, enabling responsive design, easy updatability, and a search engine-friendly structure.
Restaurant Lam – A website project that highlights branding and user experience
Branding and Visual Identity:
I implemented the colour design based on the restaurant's brand colours and added a few new shades to make the site more vibrant. I changed the font to highlight the brand's elegant look. I edited the logos as needed – removing backgrounds or cropping them so they fit perfectly on the site.
Content and Usability:
I wrote (copywriting) all the text content of the site from scratch, but I also utilized the best parts of the old site. The menu was built from CMS items, so now Lamin's owner Timo can easily update dishes and prices without technical expertise. One of my pride points is the automation of the menu's chili indicators: Timo can simply select a number from 1 to 5, and the number of chilies updates automatically as images next to the dishes – goodbye manual image editing!
The site was enhanced with scroll animations, and the menu navigation was optimized especially for mobile devices. This ensures that browsing on a phone is as effortless as on a computer.
SEO and Visibility:
We meticulously optimized the SEO ensuring that the menu items can be easily found through Google search. Additionally, the site was optimized to be found with keywords other than, "Chinese restaurant Tampere". This guarantees that the restaurant stands out from competitors and attracts new customers.
GDPR and Additional Features:
A custom cookie banner was added to the site, which is GDPR-compliant and designed in the brand colours. Additionally, the collection of emails and acquiring reviews on Google began in collaboration with Akseli Pesonen, who has helped ensure Lamin's growing visibility online.
Process
Requirements Mapping:
We listened carefully to the client's wishes and challenges with the current website. We initially planned how to display the menu attractively and clearly while ensuring that updating it is as easy as possible for the client.
Design – Creativity in Action:
I designed the site's colour palette using the restaurant's brand colours and added some liveliness with a couple of additional colours. I chose a font that reflects the restaurant's identity and adjusted the logos to fit perfectly with the overall site design.Feedback Round – Direct Collaboration On-Site:
We met the client on-site, where we reviewed feedback and made necessary changes immediately. This ensured that the site is clear, easy to navigate, and easy for the client to update in the future.Development Phase – Technical Implementation:
I built the site to load quickly and be easily found by search engines. All animations and visual effects work smoothly, and I ensured that there are no typos or improperly scaled images on the page. The site was optimized for all screen ratios: desktop, tablet, and mobile.Launch – Ready for Use:
In the finalization of the site, I took care to grant editing rights to the client, branded the cookie banner, integrated Google Analytics, and conducted GDPR checks. Additionally, a privacy policy and necessary 301 redirects were added to the site.
Collaboration and results: This has been a truly inspiring project, and it has been a pleasure to collaborate with Akseli. I look forward to seeing how much we can influence the number of visitors to Lamin together and make the restaurant even more popular in Tampere. Lamin's new website combines visual elegance, technical functionality, and user-friendliness – a result that both the client and I can be proud of.
